INSTALLATION & DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS

  • Foamular 150 or 250 should be used for residential and light commercial applications where floors are subject to normal loads.
  • Use Foamular 400, 600, or 1000 for industrial applications where floor areas will be exposed to heavy loads.
  • Utilize gravel fill to establish a stable, even base. Gravel must be thoroughly tamped before installing insulation.
  • Butt insulation boards tightly together and against foundation walls or adjacent vertical insulation.
  • The need for and placement of vapor retarders should be determined by the building designer.
  • See product compressive strength on product datasheets to determine product requirements.
INSTALLATION & DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
  • Foamular is installed, from the top of the footing upwards, directly over the exterior of concrete, block or wood foundations.
  • Insulation may be attached with adhesives or mechanical fasteners.
  • In applications utilizing waterproofing or damp proofing, the insulation may be held in place by the nearly fully cured, “slightly tacky” membrane surface.
  • In areas with potentially “heavy termite infestation” check building codes regarding below grade use of foam insulation.
  • The need for and placement of vapor retarders should be determined by the building designer.
  • Backfill as soon as possible. Foamular must be in full contact with foundation. Protect joint from backfill entry.
  • Insulation installed above grade must be covered. Typical materials include: masonry veneer, cementitious coatings, siding, etc.
  • Slope surrounding grade / concrete slabs away from foundation.
