INSTALLATION & DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
Foamular 150 or 250 should be used for residential and light commercial
applications where floors are subject to normal loads.
Use Foamular 400, 600, or 1000 for industrial applications where floor areas
will be exposed to heavy loads.
Utilize gravel fill to establish a stable, even base. Gravel must be thoroughly
tamped before installing insulation.
Butt insulation boards tightly together and against foundation walls or
adjacent vertical insulation.
The need for and placement of vapor retarders should be determined by the
building designer.
See product compressive strength on product datasheets to determine product
requirements.
INSTALLATION & DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
Foamular is installed, from the top of the footing upwards, directly over the
exterior of concrete, block or wood foundations.
Insulation may be attached with adhesives or mechanical fasteners.
In applications utilizing waterproofing or damp proofing, the insulation may be
held in place by the nearly fully cured, “slightly tacky” membrane surface.
In areas with potentially “heavy termite infestation” check building codes
regarding below grade use of foam insulation.
The need for and placement of vapor retarders should be determined by the
building designer.
Backfill as soon as possible. Foamular must be in full contact with foundation.
Protect joint from backfill entry.
Insulation installed above grade must be covered. Typical materials include:
masonry veneer, cementitious coatings, siding, etc.
Slope surrounding grade / concrete slabs away from foundation.
